Welcome to New Staff!
We work hard to respond quickly (and well) to any customer inquiries. We know how frustrating it can be waiting days for a reply from someone.
Recently we decided to add more support staff to reduce support response times during our 'overnight' (here in New Zealand) period.
With just a little bit of advertising (e.g. in our forums) we received an almost overwhelming number of applications. I was frankly humbled by the number of so well qualified people that wanted to work for us. Thank you to everyone who applied. And sorry that we did not have more work to offer.
We have ended up bringing on board Huw and Essien. Huw is a post graduate university student here in NZ with a long history with Linux. And Essien has a strong background in Linux and software development (Python/PHP/C#/.Net). Both of them have been providing support over the last few days. And already they are quickly coming up to speed with our systems and our focus on working hard to provide great support.
Xen Update
The Xen virtualization software we introduced on new server setups in July has been working very well for us. VPSs on it have been stable, and performance is excellent. We hit one bug early on, but that was fixed by a 'point' release of Xen.
Given how well it has gone we will start migrating a few host servers from UML to Xen during September. We will work with the affected customers so they know exactly what is going on. The migration process is relatively straightforward and should require minimal changes to each VPS and should not affect the functionality of your VPS in any way.

Working on Linux servers every day (as we do) we constantly pick up new things all the time: how to secure proxy servers; how to get ruby on rails up and running; how to enable disk quotas; how to install xxx; how to identify and resolve problem yyy; etc.
I confess to having a text file pages long filled with notes from past server fiddlings. I find myself dipping into that file frequently in order to answer some support question or another. And I'm not the only one here hoarding one of these tip files.
We decided to make our notes a bit more public so we setup http://bliki.rimuhosting.com which will be a cross between a blog and a wiki.
http://bliki.rimuhosting.com is pretty bare at the moment. We will be adding new snips to it this week and then hopefully you will find useful pages showing up there on a regular basis. So please drop by and see if anything there is of help to you.
$15 Referral Credit
Are you happy with your hosting service and support? Do you have friends or colleagues that need Linux hosting? If so we would appreciate it if you mention us to them. If they sign up and mention your name we will put a $15 referral credit on your next hosting bill.
That's all the news for this month!
Regards, Peter
