I was wondering what determines if something is available via apt-get. For instance, http://subversion.tigris.org/project_packages.html has a list of sources for subversion packages, yet I don't see svn anywhere using apt-cache search. I realize I can install it manually, its just quite a bit easier to get the whole thing with depedancies. Is it just a matter of what gets added to apt.rimuhosting.com?
thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob,
The packages you can search or install with apt-get are determined by the sources you 've configured in your APT installation.
Check your sources file at /etc/apt/sources.list to see from where are you getting the list of available packages.
I don't use apt.rimuhosting.com, I don't even know it existed!.
However if you use any debian package server you should have subversion package. I've tryed apt-cache search subversion and it found a lot of packages, including the subversion package named 'subversion'.
If you want more info regarding apt you should check this beginner manual of apt:
http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/tutorials/apt-get-intro/index-apt-get-intro.html
Or click here (http://newbiedoc.sourceforge.net/tutorials/apt-get-intro/index-apt-get-intro.html)
Question to rimu:
Does rimu keeps a mirror of debian packages we should use to retrieve the packages to make it faster?
Regards!

The debian mirrors are pretty fast. And they are generally quite reliable. So we leave them as the default.
We roll our own RHEL4 distro, so we provide apt repositories for that.
WBEL3 does not come with apt repositories, so we mirror/aptify the (yum based) WBEL3 RPM repositories.
