Objexcel Ltd (the RimuHosting parent company) is seeking a Java developer to use the latest technologies working on some high tech web sites/services.
The role would include creating and working on a handful of websites/services. You would be primarily working with the following technologies:
- Java
- JSP
- Ajax (dwr at the moment)
- Javascript, HTML, CSS on the front ends
- MySQL databases
- Eclipse IDE
- Linux servers
- A bit of XML, and web APIs
You will be working on:
- rimuhosting.com: on the back end for managing server information, interfacing with host servers, writing APIs for customers to use, adding end user features to manage their servers.
- pingability.com: extending and improving the monitoring service.
- creating 2-3 new innovative websites/services.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Very smart. Able to understand requirements and implement them elegantly and simply.
- Works well with others. We are looking for someone who can see other peoples' point of view, take feedback and suggestions on board, and who can promote their own great ideas without being stubborn or forceful about it.
Why work for us:
- Objexcel is a fast growing, successful company (25th fastest growing NZ company on the 2007 Deloittes http://fast50.co.nz list)
- The small, tight team means you'll be working on all parts of the code: user interface interaction design, HTML/CSS, Ajax, Java code, and database backends.
- 'The boss' is an ex-Seattle dot com CTO. For junior developers this is a great opportunity to learn and develop some great skills and exposure to the latest technologies.
- Great work environment: casual clothes, some work from home, flexible hours, smart/professional work mates, weekly offsite staff meetings at the 'local' with some good food, invite to join the summer 5-a-side RimuHosting Rebooter soccer team, invite to join in on the occasional company sponsored golf day.
- Lifestyle location: the position is out of our Cambridge office. Walk or bike to work, Hamilton and Auckland just minutes away, low cost of living, great schools, good community/sports facilities.
We are looking for:
- Someone who can write very usable web applications.
- Someone who cares about the detail, and can produced a well-finished application.
- You will have a computer science degree.
- You may be fresh out of uni with some coding experience, not necessarily paid, e.g. on Open Source projects OR have 3 or more years work experience.
The nitty gritty:
- Starting ASAP.
- Working from the Cambridge Office. Offer open to NZ-residents only.
- Salary from $40-85K.
To apply please email Peter Bryant at p.jobs _at_ rimuhosting.com:
- Include a resume.
- Give us some idea how we would know you are smart (great exam results, scholarships?).
- Convince us you can write elegant, simple code (tell us about that, or better still show us that code running on the web).
- Show us that you are keen and motivated to create some unique web-based services using leading technologies.
