Happy New Year! 2004 has been a great year for RimuHosting. We have expanded our operations to the data center we use in Texas. We have added dozens of mighty new servers. We have increased our full time support staff head count. We moved into our new offices in downtown Cambridge (pop. 15,000). Every month we work to make improvements to our service. Some of that ends up being new, visible features. And much ends up being done behind the scenes (CPU and disk monitoring, support system improvements, et. al). We have continued to enjoy lots of new business, much of it thanks to the referrals given from satisfied customers. The word is spreading.

It has been our pleasure to host and support all of you through 2004.

We have a number of ambitious plans for 2005. We are excited about some of the new features and services we have on the drawing board. In December we started the groundwork on a couple of projects. We will continue working on those projects during the start of 2005 before we release anything. Stay tuned...

We hope 2005 is a successful year for you. And we hope you will get to make the most out of your server with us.

Backup Mail Server

What's news? During December we added a backup MX feature. This will provide a way for people to send you email even if your VPS's mail server is not available.

Web Site Updates: New Logo, Updated Howtos, Better Navigation

December saw us making a few tweaks to our web site. We updated some of our Howto's, in particular the Java ones. They should now be a little easier to follow. We have have a new logo, a Rimu tree design. And we have added some section navigation links to each of our our main pages. I do not think the site will ever win a beauty award, but we will continue working to make the site more useful and easier to use.

Referral Credits

Do you have a friend or colleague that may need Linux server hosting? Please tell them about RimuHosting or put one of our 'hosted by RimuHosting' buttons on your web site. Referrals help us become a stronger hosting company, able to offer better service. Also, we pay a $15 hosting credit for everyone that signs up and mentions your name as the referral source.

This month we are also contributing $10 from each new order to the Indian Ocean tsunami recovery efforts.

The email goes out with each month's billing receipt. So if you tick the 'email receipt' box at http://rimuhosting.com/cp under the receipts page you'll get it that way.

BTW, if I can't think of anything interesting to say one month, I'll probably skip it. :)
