A suggestion: automatically display any detected problems on the network status page from your own internal monitoring systems.

e.g. "12:34 problem detected with host567 ... staff have been notified"

this would save multiple users on a host from reporting a problem that you're already aware of. Thanks.

We do a lot of monitoring. And a good chunk of what we get are false alarms or just mere warnings.

Our current setup is to update the maintenance page as soon as we are aware of the problem and have started working on it.

If we are not working on it, I'm actually happy for people to report the same problem. This doesn't actually happen all that often.

to clarify, it would save me from reporting it (and create a better impression of your company :D).

i have my own monitoring (alertra.com) which pages me when my site is down for more than 2 hours. No false positives, I use it on this and many other sites.

whenever I've been paged (a couple of times now) I've looked at your status page and it showed ... nothing.

2 hours is quite a long time. When my server is down, I'm unhappy, and if I have to report it as well it's like "nobody even cares" :( Reporting takes time and is a hassle I could do without.

Overall, the service is good but more proactive status information would keep customers happier I'm sure.
