Hosting your VPS with us in Dallas? We have some good news for you. We have increased the memory allowances available to Dallas-based VPS customers by 50-100%. Read on to see how you can change to these new resource levels...
New 64GB host servers! The amount of memory available on VPSs has always been one of the scarcest server resources. Host servers typically sell out of available memory before all the disk space is used, or the CPU is tasked too much. When RimuHosting first started offering its VPS hosting back in 2003 we struggled to find host servers with more than 2GB of memory. Over the years the amount of memory we were able to easily get on a host server has increased in steps: 4-8GB in 2004, 16GB in 2006, and 32GB in 2007. The latest batch of custom spec-ed servers that arrived at the Dallas-based data center we use came with 64GB of memory (in 16x4GB DIMMs). Not to mention a ridiculous 6TB of disk space, which we have configured in with RAID10 for fast disk performance. Pricing plan memory allocations increase The new Dallas-based server specs has enabled us to increase some VPS resources (e.g. memory) on new orders. See http://rimuhosting.com/vps-servers. For example our sub-$50 plans now offer 50-70% more memory at the same price point. And on the larger plans we have doubled the memory allowance! We have also increased the maximum VPS memory size from 3GB to a massive 32GB. So if your site ever needs to scale up you can go from 256MB of memory to 32GB with just a quick reboot, and you can resize back down when you no longer need the memory. And you are only billed is pro-rated for just the time you have the extra memory. Existing customers can take advantage of the new resource levels Our goal is to do all we can to continually provide better and better value for money to our customers. Particularly in these tough economic times. We hope these new resources levels show our commitment to that promise. The new resource levels are available to existing customers. Go to http://rimuhosting.com/cp/vps/resour...s_change_mem=Y That page should automatically show how much extra memory to allocate to your VPS based on your current pricing. And then you would just use the 'Change Resources' button to make that happen. Depending on how much memory your VPS has and how much memory the host server has you may need to move your VPS to a new host server (one with more memory) in order to get the latest resource levels. If that is the case, there will be a 'move' link http://rimuhosting.com/cp/vps/move.jsp offered (right after the resource change table). All Dallas-based host servers support the new MiroVPS1 resource levels; you need to move to a 16GB or larger host to support the new MiroVPS2 resource levels; 32GB host for MiroVPS3; or the latest 64GB hosts for MiroVPS4. Is your VPS in a non-Dallas location? You can use the http://rimuhosting.com/cp/vps/move.jsp link to move your VPS over to Dallas to take advantage of the new resource levels there.
